Yet, if “AM” increased this band’s popularity to a more mainstream status, this one will distinguish it as different from the rest. The songs flow naturally and amazingly, in an almost necessary way. Here Alex shows himself as more human and focused in the nature of his purpose, making the whole album a cohesive experience. The songs are a continuous meditation and not a melodic effort to sound “cool” or simply “artistic”. Not thag such a thing is bad, yet it needs to feel justified. As referenced by several critics and fans who got the chance to hear some songs in advance, it all sounds a lot like a solo project, more “Alex Turner & The Arctic Monkeys” rather than a full band. The album presents a vaster list of sounds than the previous ones, but, despite such, these are sent to the background, and here lies the biggest creative divergence from their past work. Here what maters the most isn’t melody, but meaning and execution. 'Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino' is the culmination of years of experience, of an attained maturity.

Taking that in consideration, I feel like they finally arrived to where they wanted to be. Nevertheless, as they hadn’t completely detached from their pre-established image, it was seen as a teenagerish album and a bit cheesy at parts, but still fun.

While 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not' joyfully played with the excenctricity of the guitars and had somewhat explosive instrumentals, aware of its own playfulness, “AM” aimed to be a more serious album, more cohese and melodic. Honestly, I think we are witnessing a significative change in the band’s maturity. By the way, I am aware that the leak is sped up and a little higher-pitched, yet I didn’t take those elements in consideration when writing this. After listening to the album four times today, these are my thoughts on it.
